Private Equity

July's PE headlines were dominated by secondaries and GP-financing vehicles. CVC's newest secondaries fund reportedly closed at $9.3B against a $7B target, while debut manager Clipway raised $6.4B for its first secondaries platform, well above its $4B goal and one of the largest first-time secondaries funds ever raised. Arctos, now part of KKR, closed its inaugural Arctos Keystone Partners Fund I at $6.2B, its first vehicle providing growth capital to alternative asset managers, another sign that GP-stakes and liquidity strategies are pulling in flagship-scale capital alongside traditional buyout and secondaries funds. HarbourVest's seventh co-investment program, HCF VII, closed at $4.75B, above a $4B target, and was already more than half-deployed at close. CVC also closed its European mid-market fund, Catalyst III, at roughly €3.0B ($3.4B), nearly double its €1.75B target.
